What not to miss in Ibiza this summer?

Yeah, summer has almost ended, but probably when you go next year this should all still be on your list;-). Through a combination of listening to the in-crowd, reading the magazines, and browsing the web Ibiza had some great new stuff to offer when I was over this year.

Babylon beach – in Eularia between hideous apartment blocks you find an oasis of tranquility. In a secluded bay a restaurant is build, which offers comfortable beds, great food and a walkway to guide you into the water from the rocks. No there is no sandy beach, but it easily beats the sand between your toes with the wonderful organics food (you have to try their bread), the great service and the DJ tunes in the background.

Market Sant Joan de Labritja – this one has been there for a while, each Sunday from 9 till 4pm, but has expanded without exploding. Yes you could go to Las Dahlias but no way does it feel so authentic as this one. You will find organic juices, art from the locals, micro brewery beers, Frida Kahlo wooden boards, and we were even offered to buy a friend!

Vivi’s creamery – in the middle of Ibiza town Vivi’s creamery is your rescue when it’s hot and you’re urging for ice cream. The best vegan ice cream just when you need it when on your shopping spree.

Cala Bonita – you follow the road through Jesus village and find this rock indicating to take a right on a dirt road. You continue to get to playa s’Estanyol where this restaurant Cala Bonita started this year. In this little bay you will feel like in your own world, with a restaurant serving great food, and sun beds with wonderful services.

s’Escalinata – in the old town you follow the main restaurant road all the way up to the wall. Then on your left on the staircase s’Escalinata has created the perfect spot for your morning breakfast or afternoon drinks. You join on the cushions where you will have a amazing view over town, perfect for deciding on your plans for the next days.

Flower Power party Pacha – maybe, when you feel like it, you should at least do one party?! As Ibiza has ample choice I recommend the Flower Power party in good old Pacha. With a little bit of an older crowd, people making an effort to dress up in theme, and music that takes you back in time, you are guaranteed to have some fun.

Santa Gertrudis – actually this one is always on my list as the square in Santa Gertrudis is always buzzing after beach timings. Go for a wander or chill on the square and have a bite in Macao in the lovely garden restaurant.

Hotel Los Enamorados – and for the stylists amongst us, go check Hotel Enamorados in Portinatx. It opened this year and stands out in the up north village of Portinatx. It doesn’t have the typical Ibiza style, but is eclectic and retro. Go for a drink in the afternoon and join for a bite if that fits your planning.

Haha ever since hearing mike posners song Ibiza is one place I’ve always wanted to visit though I don’t need to prove to avicii that I am cool. This list looks great – hope to make it that way !
