Where to stay in Ibiza?

I was convinced again this year to take a break in Ibiza and important to that decision is where do we stay?! A vila is a great idea, but if you’re just two a hotel might be a bit more social option. I have a few suggestions for you which are away from the crowd, all have a lovely vibe and are good for the eye.

Los Enamorados $$$ – This hotel in Portinatx hit all magazines and blogs this year, so with the FOMO part in me I of course needed to pay it a visit. It is situated in the most up North city on a small port. While Portinatx is flooded with the white Island buildings, this one has been painted a striking olive green to set the tone for a retro decoration. The eclectic interior and styling is most original. The hotel has a wonderful terrace overlooking the bay where a bar welcomes you for a drink and tables are set if you want to join for a bite. The little shop offers you clothing and interior furniture different from the standard Ibiza stuff. A great place to stay if you want something original.

Can Marti $$ – If you feel like finca farm life and embrace the organic life style Can Marti is your place to stay. You take this dirt road and after about a mile you hit this farm which has been converted in an agriturismo with 4 small apartments. When I arrived we heard loud barking of a donkey and turned our head to see that she was actually just about to give birth to her little one. So much for farm life welcoming you. The pool with natural ecosystem to keep the water clean on the outskirt of the terrain was another big pull for me to love this place.

Gare du Nord $ – In Sant Joan de Labritja, the most hippie town in the North of Ibiza, there is a lovely quietness. The market on Sunday has become the event of the week, but besides from this day the city is not much more than a few hotels, restaurants and one bar. Considering that with a car nothing is further than 30 minutes this is one of my favorite places. Gare du Nord is a b&b run by a lady who left her teaching job in Holland to join a different lifestyle. With a lovely garden in the back to chill in the morning and some sweet rooms this is a good recommendation if you want to be in the middle of San Joan. (ps room 2 is at the back, nice balcony and no sounds from the road at the front).

Can Fuster $ – also in Sant Joan this somewhat bigger hotel has a nice pool, lovely garden and some great rooms. If you are maybe more than 2 persons they would be a good option as they are able to put some extra beds in the room.

And a few others – Santa Gertrudis is one of my other favorite towns in Ibiza. The little square with some nice bars and restaurants all around is the great draw. It has an authentic Spanish vibe and is great if you want to rehydrate again coming from the beach. Gatzara boutique hotel , the new hotel in town welcomes you with an open space where you can chill as in your own living room or have breakfast in the morning. The swimming pool and bar at the top at the hotel are nice for a chill after the beach or when in the morning you need to decide where to go next. And then there is Can Skye a place where yoga and massages can be part of your schedule and is somewhere in the middle of nowhere. Or go totally over the top and join La Granja a members only retreat (but you can join for drinks on Sunday) which is candy for the eye.
