Give me sunshine, give me an ocean or sea and I’m happy. But if you give me all of that and an infinity pool I’m in total bliss. This trip to Bali was about trying to find the ultimate infinity pool, and I found a few…..
The Viceroy Hotel, Ubud – Ubud is a the yoga village in Bali that should be on your list to visit. Although more touristy every year it still breathes a certain romantic and small town vibe, and is able to keep that friendliness of the inhabitants alive. The Viceroy Bali is a family owned and operated resort in Ubud consisting of 25 luxuriously appointed private pool villas, majestically situated in Bali’s “Valley of the Kings” an appellation given by locals for the generations of Balinese royalty who have resided in nearby villages. Located in this “Valley of the Kings” in the rain forest all villas overlook tropical vegetation. As do the restaurant, bar and this great infinity pool! On a lazy afternoon I had a great whisky sour there when sun was setting.
Potato Head Beach Club, Seminyak – When planning your Bali trip you probably noted this one already. And while we got confused by the hostess telling us that we could sit at the bar while putting us at the waiting list (29 persons before us) for a better spot, within half an hour we had a pool side lounge bed. And yes it is all that: seen to be seen, and busy, but it serves a great Kookaburra cocktail, the infinity pool can’t be beaten, and the sunset looks amazing form here.
El Kabron Restaurant and Beach Club, Uluwatu – Sangria, tapas, paella, DJ tunes and an infinity pool overlooking a cliff to Bingin beach, what more can you wish for. El Kabron is in Uluwatu on the Bukit Peninsula. Support your driver when finding his way and he might need to be persistent, as ours needed to check directions 4 times. It is a wonderful place to spend your afternoon waiting for the sun to set. You have a minimal spend which is so worth it. Over the weekend they have special gigs and performances which you might want to check out. We went during the week and had a great time enjoying some cocktails, doing a swim and making sure that this was an infinity pool….
W hotel, Seminyak – this hotel is huge, maybe a bit too big?! But the service is amazing. I can’t recall having had a waitress asking my name and remembering this throughout the full length of my stay before. It does make this big hotel a bit more personal. Set on the beach of Seminyak it has numerous pools looking out into the Indian ocean. They created a bar Woobar and lounge area to enjoy the sun set to the fullest.
Ayana resort, Jimbaran – Ayana resort is what its name tells you – a resort. It positions itself as a world-class destination resort located on 90 hectares of cliff-top land perched above Jimbaran Bay. Ayana’s majestic sunsets and ocean-front views are complemented by white-sand beach and some great infinity pools. It claims 11 pools and with these amazing views it is so worth a visit.
